Hi Rob,Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.I can understand that your biometric sensor is not working in your HP Probook model. I'll certainly help you find and troubleshoot the root cause of the issue. If the utility was working with the previous versions of Windows, it is expected to run normally with Windows Insider Preview as well. In fact, Windows 10 RTM is expected to release with some features facilitating validity sensors enabled with the hardware. The issue might arise if the corresponding hardware is not compatible or has got corrupted.I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if the issue persists.Method 1: I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:a. Press “Windows key + W”.b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.c. Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.d. Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.e.

Follow the On Screen instructions. If the issue still exists, try the next method.Method 2:The Windows 8.1 driver for validity sensor is supposed work with the Windows Insider Preview. I would suggest you to update with the following driver definition for your system and check if it works. If the issue still exists, install the above driver in compatibility mode with Windows 8.1. Refer to the following link for better assistance on installing a driver/program in compatibility mode.Hope this information is helpful. Do let us know if you need any further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you. Hi, I have downloaded the VSF471 driver from above provided link (V.4.4.234.0) and installed manually by selecting driver in the driver pre installed directory 'WBF003cDRV'. Driver worked and my login setting showed the Hello Finger Print.

I had enrolledmy finger prints. Then I had locked my computer to check the finger print login validity, it worked correctly. In the mean while after 10 minutes system restarted and every thing goes black for 5 minutes then in the login screen a message appeared your fingervalidity sensor is not working properly I login and uninstalled the driver to off this message. Its my story, Now is there any way or solution to get rid from this problem.

Hi,same problem here. I've installed the driver 'WBF003cDRV' and the software provided in the package sp58900 'Validity WBF DDK', windows hello works correctly and I can set up the fingerprint sign-in option. If I put my laptop in standby mode I can use fingerprint access on wake up. The problem is that if I restart the laptop the finger print reader is not working, I've to use password or PIN. Once I log in I'm able to use fingerprint again on wake up after standby. It seems like something is not loaded when the laptop starts.Microsoft, please give us a solution!

It definitely works ( hopefully)!Today I had the exact same experience on Windows 8.1 64-bit with an HP EliteBook 8460p (VFS471 sensor, VID138A&PID003C&REV0086). Flytampa boston for p3d. After that I tried it with v.4.4.232.0and this version seems to work OOTB.It's no more necessary to uncheck 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

I hope the following solution also works withWindows 10. Carefully uninstall everything related with validity and biometric: go to control panel and from 'uninstall a program' uninstall Validity WBF DDK or other validity software. In device manager uninstall the biometric driver (checking the box 'delete the driver software for this device') if you have one.

Reboot. Note: Includes also drivers for PID 003d, 0010, 0011, 0018, 0050, 201, 300, 301, 451. Extract/install the package sp58834.exe. Right click/install 'C:Program FilesValidity SensorsSharedDriversWBF003cDRVwbfvfs003c.inf',respectively select the PID of your device.

Or install the driver via device manager. Reboot. Good luck!

HP EliteBook notebook series is one of the top notch in the business laptop category when it comes to quality and security. The aluminium body, fingerprint sensor, night light, dual battery supports, and enhanced security features made them stand out from the rest of the consumer laptops. But with the in 2015, there have been some hiccups in functionality on some of the older EliteBook models. The Windows 10 brought its own fingerprint authentication via the Windows Hello functionality, which unfortunately does not support some old hardware. This caused a lot of issues including the fingerprint sensor not working on some of the HP EliteBook models, including the EliteBook 8460p and 8560p, after upgrading to Windows 10, either from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.Today, we will be providing a fix for fingerprint sensor not working on these laptops. This tutorial will help those who are having difficulty using the fingerprint sensor on the following EliteBook models running Windows 10:.

Unfortunately, the old validity fingerprint driver that enabled the fingerprint sensor to function on Windows 7 does not support Windows 10. So, in this case a new Validity driver needs to be installed for the fingerprint sensor to work on Windows 10.There is another thing we want to point out. Previously, the HP Protect Tools is the software program that provide the interface for the fingerprint enrollment and the enabling of other security measures. But now, the software has been renamed to HP Client Security Manager. HP Protect Tools no longer work on the aforementioned EliteBook models running Windows 10. Using the fingerprint sensor now requires HP Client Security on Windows 10.Let's get startedFirst, you will need to download and install the following software.
