Hi,I am cleaning up my wife's mac and it appears that logmein was once installed on it and then removed. I can't find any trace of the software except for the icon in the the menubar. I want to remove it but there is no way to get rid of it. This is a Macbook running OS 10.6.8.When I click on it I get a dropdown menu with one active item: Open Logmein.but if I select that it does not open anything. I guessing because the software is not on the machine anymore. Can someone explain how Logmein works? How can I get rid of that icon in the menubar? Thanks,Luke.

First I had to kill the process in the terminal like they described above.Then1.Force Quit Safari (not sure if that really mattered but I did it)2. Open Finder and navigate to my Mac3. Hit Ctrl + F4. Select the filter (It defaults to 'Kind' for me) and select 'Other.' Click the option for System Files and then change to 'Are Included'6. Move to trash everything with the LogMeIn name.7. Then it wouldnt let me empty because it said the stdlog file was still in use so I had to restart8.

I have no idea how LogMeIn hijacked my internal speakers, and i'm sure you will never see this response, but THANK YOU! Like Tim Wolff, I had already uninstalled LogMeIn and its components. I even used 'Clean My Mac' to do the uninstall because I assumed, wrongly, that that program would search out all the nooks and crannies in which associated LMI files would be hiding and trash them.

Without your VERY helpful heads-up about the unearthing the 'LogMeInSounddriver.ktext' file i don't know what I would have done! Thanks again!
